On Thursday, March 31st, the Lutheran High School Chapter of the National Honor Society held the Spring Induction Ceremony. Advisor Mrs. Lagarde, existing members Elvin Hill and Jakhai Pugh, faculty Ms. Loughmilller and Mrs. Hernandez, together shared with the inductees the meaning of scholarship, leadership, character, and service - the pillars of National Honor Society membership. To be considered for membership, students must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA, must be a junior or senior in good standing, must be nominated by the advisor and selection committee, and must complete an application. Congratulations to LHS students Shahed Ottallah and Mason Mowers - newest members of this prestigious organization! Family and Honor Society members enjoyed a small reception after the ceremony. Congratulations, Gryphons! On Tuesday, March 29th LHS students had the opportunity to celebrate Lutheran education by participating in National Lutheran Schools Week events. The day began with chapel and a message that reminded us Christ is “In All Things.” Students supported their community by donating cans of food to Second Harvest and then shared a special meal of build your own burrito or baked potato. The afternoon was spent outdoors creating sidewalk chalk crosses and enjoying some friendly competition - ping pong, corn hole, musical chairs, and a water balloon toss. The event was coordinated by the Service Club and Ms. Loughmiller. Congratulations to all of our District Literary Rally participants who represented Lutheran High at Southeastern University on Saturday! Students, accompanied by Ms. Loughmilller and Mrs. Lagarde, competed academically, exhibited original artwork, and enjoyed checking out the many clubs and organizations offered at Southeastern. Many of our students have earned placement at the state level competition and will go on to compete at Louisiana State University in April. Geaux Gryphons! We extend a warm official welcome to Ms. Jessica Corb, Administrative and Financial Coordinator, and Mr. Derrick Martin, Physical Education Teacher! We are excited that you have joined the Gryphon family! |
