Congratulations to the newest members of the Lutheran High Chapters of the National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society! On March 26th, Mrs. Lagarde inducted students into these prestigious organizations before their peers and families. Thank you to Mr. Scriber and the LHS Choir for opening our programs with a beautiful song, and to the members of our faculty who participated in the induction ceremonies. Wonderful job, Gryphons! From Councilman Hans Liljeberg's Office: We’re proud to share a collaborative effort with local schools and the District 5 Office to transform utility boxes into vibrant public art—enhancing the beauty and creativity throughout our community! 🎨✨ Students from Lutheran High School NOLA recently brought this vision to life by painting a utility box near Johnny Bright Playground in the 3400 block of Marion St., turning it into a colorful showcase of their talent and hard work. “Lutheran High School was honored to have the opportunity to give back to our community by creating a work of art on a Parish utility box. We are proud of the work our students created, and that they were given an opportunity to share their talents by showcasing the value and importance of the arts in our school!”– Nancy Hernandez, Principal “As the advisor for Lutheran High’s Art Honor Society, I am incredibly proud of the creativity and dedication our students have shown throughout this project. This was more than just an art assignment; it was a real-world learning experience—from the initial brainstorming and proof-of-concept stages to the final pitch and painting the utility box. Many thanks to Councilman Hans J. Liljeberg and the District 5 team for providing our students with such a meaningful way to share their creativity with the community.”– Hope Lagarde, Art Honor Society Advisor 👏 Students involved:Sadie Childers Kori Holmes Heaven Dixon Jeanne Boyer Emma Nixon and Malak Hachem Thank you to these talented students for helping make District 5 a more beautiful place! Thank you to our faculty and student volunteers for making our Open House a success! We enjoyed meeting the many families who stopped by to learn more about what it means to be a Gryphon! On Saturday, March 14th, Mrs. Lagarde and Ms. Loughmiller accompanied 26 students to the Southeastern District Literary Rally. While official scores have not been released, 9 students have qualified for the State Rally which will be held at LSU in April. Congratulations to Caylee Elsmore for earning an honorable mention in the art competition, as well as a Southeastern Rally Scholarship. We appreciate all of our students for their hardwork, art talent, and for giving up their Saturday to attend the Rally Event. Fantastic job, Gryphons! On Sunday, March 1, the LHS choir joined the choir from Lake Country Lutheran School (Hartland, WI) to sing, worship, and fellowship at St. John Lutheran Church's Sunday morning worship service and an evening concert at St. Paul Lutheran Church. It was an unique opportunity for two choirs from different parts of the country to join together and celebrate the love, mercy, and grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ! It was a blessed and worshipful experience! Way to go and sing, Gryphons! When art meets the beat of jazz history! In honor of Black History Month, art students created silhouettes of jazz musicians with ties to New Orleans. Students filled their silhouettes with words that defined them - song titles, career milestones, and facts that tell the story of these music legends. This display will remain featured in our school hallways throughout the coming weeks. On Wednesday evening, Feb. 18th, we recognized and celebrated our seniors, Navin Miranda and Logan Peters, for their hard work and leadership throughout the basketball season. In the words of Coach Scriber, "Navin has worked hard all season to guide his teammates to success on and off the court. Logan has helped manage our equipment and been a good leader for the team. Thank you for all your hard work and Geaux Gryphons!" Laissez les bons temps rouler at Lutheran High! Who needs a parade when you have hallways like these? Our art students created their very own Mardi Gras float flowers, adding a giant pop of purple, green, and gold to our campus. |
