Junior students, accompanied by Mrs. Lagarde and Mr. Scriber, toured Nicholls State University and learned more about college life, degree and career tracks, and the college application process. After experiencing the campus lunch program, students were treated to a VIP interactive tour of the mass communications department. Students participated in a mock news show, went on air at the campus radio station, and learned more about careers in journalism, broadcasting, photography, multimedia, and publications. Our visit culminated with the opportunity to fly a specialized drone. Many thanks to our fabulous campus admissions tour guide, Kirsten Hill, and Makerspace lab Director Johnson, for the wonderful tour. Special thanks to Dr. Stewart, Professor Arnold, and the Nicholls communications students for making our campus visit so memorable! #collegeboundgryphons #NichollsStateUniversity Many thanks to Reverend Aubrey Watson, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, for celebrating a special Chapel with our students and faculty today honoring the good works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In his message, Rev. Watson encouraged us to do as Jesus commanded and love one another. Pastor Nare and Rev. Watson led us in a rousing rendition of "This Little Light of Mine," and asked us to be the light in the world. Thank you as well to our LHS Choir, directed by Mr. Scriber, for sharing their musical gifts this morning. After Chapel we recognized our student birthdays. #chapeltuesday #loveoneanother Congratulations to Coach Scriber and our boys' basketball team on their win Tuesday, January 10th, against Ecole Classique 39-13! Their teamwork, chemistry, and perseverance were evident as they brought home the win! Many thanks to our Gryphon fans for their support this season and cheering on our boys! #gryphonpride #luhighbasketball Thank you to the LHS Choir for sharing their musical talents during Chapel today. Mr. Scriber the shared the message celebrating the baptism of Jesus, and reminded us that we Love, Honor, and Serve because Christ first Loved, Honored, and Served all of us. After Chapel we recognized student birthdays and our students who earned placement on the second quarter Honor Rolls. Congratulations, Gryphons! #Chapel #GryphonScholars Tis the season for giving! LHS students demonstrated what it truly means to be a Gryphon by loving, honoring, and serving others in our community. Students and faculty wrote Christmas cards for all of the Covenant Nursing Home residents and participated in a school-wide food drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. Many thanks to Coach Scriber, AD Loughmiller, and our boys' basketball team for delivering our donations to Second Harvest. Basketball team members also delivered gifts to our Lutheran High School neighbors. On behalf of our students and faculty, Mrs. Lagarde hand delivered the Christmas cards to the staff of Covenant House who were excited to share them with their residents. Merry Christmas everyone! #lhschristmas On Friday, December 9th, Lutheran High students and faculty enjoyed a Christmas Celebration co-sponsored by Student Council, advised by Mrs. Lagarde, and the Service Club, advised by Ms. Loughmiller! Our festivities began with a delicious fajita lunch courtesy of our wonderful Gryphon cooking crew Steve and Jon Koester, Chad Guedry, and Warren Blackwell! We are blessed! Students wore their Christmas pajamas for the day and enjoyed an afternoon of holiday fun! Afternoon activities included a dessert bar, cookie decorating, a photo booth, games, "pin the ornament on the tree", door decorating, an "ugly sweater" contest, and ornament making. Students also participated in a food drive and service activity. Santa and some elves even made an appearance to spread some treat bags and Christmas cheer! Many thanks to our faculty, students, parents, and all in our Gryphon family who helped make the day memorable and festive! #Christmas2022 |
