Physics students compete in bridge breaking event

​Senior Physics Class students competed in Mr. Scriber's annual bridge breaking event. Students had to meet strict guidelines to create a bridge that was structurally sound and could hold the most weight. The entire school was on hand to cheer on the teams. First place went to Elvin Hill with 258 pounds. Jayla Washington came in second place with 58 pounds. Great job, Gryphons!

Student Council Spirit Week and Crawfish Boil

Student Council members, advised by Mrs. Lagarde, coordinated a week long spirit week celebration including dress down days, a food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank, and prize drawings. The week culminated with a school-wide crawfish boil and out door activities. Dress down days included Sports Day, Decades Day, Mix-Match Day, Disney Day, and Casual Friday. Many thanks to our faculty and students for their participation in this celebration of Lutheran High Gryphon Spirit!

LuHigh Track Team Places at Regionals for state at LSU!

The Lutheran High School Track Team competed at Regionals last week with a strong showing in multiple events. Four of our athletes placed at Regionals and will go on to compete at State hosted by LSU next week. Congratulations, Gryphons! Holton Klotz placed in the mile, Dewitt Solomon placed in the triple jump, Alex Rivers placed in the javelin throw, and Heaven Fazande placed in discus, the 100 meter, and the 200 meter events. Awesome job, Gryphons! Congratulations to Coach Scriber and Coach Loughmilller! #geauxgryphons

​Congratulations to Alex Rivers and Justin Maradiaga! Alex placed third in Financial Literacy at the State Literary Rally held at LSU on April 9th, and Justin placed second in Computer Science at the State Literary Rally. Wonderful job, Gryphons! #gryphonscholars

​On Saturday, April 9th, seventeen of our students accompanied by Ms. Loughmilller and Mrs. Lagarde, represented Lutheran High School at the State Literary Rally. The state wide event was hosted by Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Geaux Gryphons!

INternational Day at LHS!

​On Friday, April 1st, Lutheran High celebrated International Day! Students in Spanish and Social Studies classes researched assigned countries, displayed project boards, played music, and brought food to represent their countries. The faculty and students enjoyed learning more about other cultures and sampling the many delicious dishes! Mr. Artiz coordinated the event with special help from his wife, Mrs. Artiz! Great job, Gryphons!

LHS National HOnor SOciety Welcomes New Members

​On Thursday, March 31st, the Lutheran High School Chapter of the National Honor Society held the Spring Induction Ceremony. Advisor Mrs. Lagarde, existing members Elvin Hill and Jakhai Pugh, faculty Ms. Loughmilller and Mrs. Hernandez, together shared with the inductees the meaning of scholarship, leadership, character, and service - the pillars of National Honor Society membership. To be considered for membership, students must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA, must be a junior or senior in good standing, must be nominated by the advisor and selection committee, and must complete an application. Congratulations to LHS students Shahed Ottallah and Mason Mowers - newest members of this prestigious organization! Family and Honor Society members enjoyed a small reception after the ceremony. Congratulations, Gryphons!

Celebrating LUtheran Schools Week - "Christ in All THings"

​On Tuesday, March 29th LHS students had the opportunity to celebrate Lutheran education by participating in National Lutheran Schools Week events.  The day began with chapel and a message that reminded us Christ is “In All Things.”  Students supported their community by donating cans of food to Second Harvest and then shared a special meal of build your own burrito or baked potato.  The afternoon was spent outdoors creating sidewalk chalk crosses and enjoying some friendly competition - ping pong, corn hole, musical chairs, and a water balloon toss.  The event was coordinated by the Service Club and Ms. Loughmiller.
