We love our LHS Teachers

5/31/2024

Lutheran High Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week – sweet treats, notes of kindness, and “mystery” bags were enjoyed by the LHS faculty and staff! Their week of appreciation ended with another amazing meal from our Alumni Grill Crew! Thanks to the LHS Service Club, advised by Ms. Loughmiller for coordinating, and to our parents and students who helped make the week a success!

Art Students Explore Printmaking

5/31/2024

Students in Mrs. Lagarde's art classes explored the process of printmaking using a relief print process. Students spent several weeks creating their designs, carving their printing blocks, and ultimately producing their final prints. Wonderful job, Gryphons!

LHS Student Places 2nd at the State Literary Rally

5/9/2024

Congratulations to LHS sophomore Isabella Alvarez for placing 2nd in our division in Spanish I at the State Literary Rally! The State Literary Rally is hosted by LSU to give Louisiana high school students the opportunity to showcase their academic and performance abilities. As shared by the Louisiana Rally Association, more than 4000 students from over 350 schools have participated in State Rally after advancing from their District Rally.

LHS Students Demonstrate their engineering skills at the annual Bridge Breaking demonstation

5/9/2024

Lutheran High students engage in learning activities that allow them to problem-solve and apply their knowledge in ways that mirror the real world. Mr. Scriber's Physics and Environmental Science students participated in an annual bridge-breaking demonstration whereby students working alone or in teams competed to see which bridge could withstand the most weight. This year, we had a total of 8 bridges. Each bridge was built with varying degrees in design, structure, and appearance. The winning bridge had the highest efficiency rating of 97. A bridge's efficiency is determined by dividing the load capacity of the bridge by the mass of the bridge. Everyone had a unique bridge, creating a competitive and fun atmosphere of fun and learning. Congratulations, Gryphons!

LHS Celebrates the VIsual and Performing Arts

5/9/2024

On April 26, in a school-wide assembly, we celebrated our students gifted in the musical and visual arts. The LHS Choir, directed by Mr. Scriber, performed the songs, "When We Were Young" and "Cups." Immediately following the performance, Art Honor Society advisor Mrs. Lagarde recognized our District Literary Rally art placers and inducted three new members into the Lutheran High Chapter of the National Art Honor Society. The NAHS was established in 1978 by the National Art Education Association to inspire and recognize students who have shown outstanding ability and interest in art. NAHS strives to aid members in attaining the highest standards in art scholarship, character, and service and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community. Current Art Honor Society members assisted with the induction ceremony and presented the membership certificates and society gifts. Congratulations to our new inductees!
