Pastor Richard Rudnik from Grace Lutheran Church, Houma, LA joined us to celebrate our Rising Seniors, LHS Class of 2026, as they received their class rings. Pastor Rudnik referenced Proverbs 25:12 in his message. As seniors they will have the opportunity to earn the trust of underclassmen so that they may share wisdom and guide them in a caring way. Hats off to the Class of 2025! On Saturday, May 17th, Lutheran High School welcomed the Class of 2025 into our Gryphon alumni community at their graduation ceremony at Williams Boulevard Baptist Church. Lutheran High alum, Rachel Hurd (Valedictorian, Class of 1995), and current Chief Assistant District Attorney in New Orleans, urged our graduates to forge their own path and "Go into this world boldly. Be curious. Be kind. Be excellent in your work. And never forget that your value does not lie in your title, your GPA, or your bank account; your value is found in Christ Alone." LHS Salutatorian Haleema Ottallah reminded the Class of 2025 to trust in God and that "the future isn't something we inherit - it's something we achieve and build together." LHS Valedictorian Johandra Aquilles emphasized the importance of learning from challenges to find success and recognize that "you have the power to change the world around you and meet your goals no matter how difficult they may seem." Class of 2025, Congratulations! As you go on to the next chapter of your life, keep your class Bible verse in mind: "I can do all things through him who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13 #OnceaGryphonAlwaysaGryphon LHS' Class of 2025 chose as their Bible verse, Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." During Senior Chapel and Baccalaureate, they were reminded how this verse can guide their futures! Mr. Scriber emphasized that the Lord will always be near and they should be "Resolved to Rejoice." Pastor Nare challenged them to "Practice." The Apostle Paul encouraged the Philippians to be true, honorable, pure, commendable - practice these things and the God of peace will be with you. The Class of 2025 has been a blessing to LHS, and we wish them all the best! Congratulations to the participants and winners of the Lutheran High School Art Contest, a valuable opportunity for students to showcase their artistic development. Twelve entries spanning various media were evaluated by a panel of professional artists from the community. The students recognized for their exceptional work are: First Place: Emma Nixon (drawing) Second Place: Jeanne Boyer (illustration) Third Place: Lillian Naquin (sculpture) Honorable Mentions: Jaila Kagler (oil pastels), Malak Hachem (drawing), and Kori Holmes (painting) We sincerely appreciate our judges, Aime Davis with Creasons Fine Art Gallery, Blake Brodhead with Primary Artworks, and Josh Wingerter with Josh Wingerter Studios, for their time and thoughtful evaluations of our students' art and for contributing to this enriching educational experience. Congratulations, Gryphons! #creativegryphons Recently, Lutheran High celebrated the visual and musical arts in a school-wide assembly. After a performance by our talented choir directed by Mr. Scriber, National Art Honor Society advisor Mrs. Lagarde, and existing NAHS student members, inducted seven new members into the Lutheran High Chapter of the National Art Honor Society. To be considered for this prestigious organization, the students met the core requirements and successfully demonstrated the qualities of service, character, leadership, and scholarship in the visual arts. The National Art Honor Society chapters seek to magnify the innovation, skill, and scholarship that visual arts programs and students bring to their schools and communities. After the induction ceremony, students and their families enjoyed light refreshments. Congratulations, Gryphons! |
