Saturday, September 23rd they competed at the Mount Carmel Cub Run, and Wednesday, September 27th, they ran in the Country Day Cajun Classic! Geaux Gryphons! #GryphonPride On Saturday, September 23rd, newly elected student leaders came together to build upon their leadership and communication skills at the LHS Student Council leadership retreat. Mrs. Hernandez, Mrs. Lagarde, and Ms. Loughmiller led discussions, and facilitated activities designed to promote teamwork, understanding, and servant leadership. Activities included creating word art that reflected the leadership action words Lead, Unite, Communicate, and Act, finding "common threads" in small group discussions, brainstorming school-wide celebrations, and participating in a catapult building activity where teams competed to get different objects in a series of targets. Student leaders enjoyed a breakfast treat and a build-your-own salad bar for lunch. Great job, Gryphons! #gryphonleaders Thank you to Isaiah Smith with Southeastern Louisiana University for visiting with our students and sharing the many degree and career options available at Southeastern! #collegeboundgryphons In the past weeks, candidates for the LHS Executive Board and LHS class officer positions campaigned for office. Candidates for the Executive Board gave speeches before the entire student body, while class officer candidates gave speeches before their grade-level classmates. After spirited campaigns, the votes are in! Congratulations to our candidates for sharing their vision for LHS during their campaigns and to our newly elected student leaders! #gryphonleaders Many thanks to Riviera Ridgeway for spending lunch with us and sharing with our students the many degree programs and career opportunities offered at Delgado Community College! #collegeboundgryphons LHS' Third Annual Welcome Week is in the books! Students spent the week getting to know one another while enjoying some friendly team and class challenges such as Nix the Six, Family Feud, Dress the Debutante, a Stacking Challenge, and an LHS favorite - the water balloon toss! Hot weather forced us indoors, but we ventured out to toss balloons and ended Friday with popsicles! Chapel for Welcome Week was led by Pastor John Ramsey of First English Lutheran Church. During the service, he dedicated the LHS Faculty and Staff as they begin a new school year! It was a beautiful weekend for Lutheran High athletics! The volleyball team coached by Ms. Loughmiller competed at the John Ehret Tournament on Saturday afternoon. Saturday morning, the cross country team coached by Mr. Scriber put forth a strong showing at the Holy Cross/Dominican Invitational. Geaux Gryphons! |
