When art meets the beat of jazz history! In honor of Black History Month, art students created silhouettes of jazz musicians with ties to New Orleans. Students filled their silhouettes with words that defined them - song titles, career milestones, and facts that tell the story of these music legends. This display will remain featured in our school hallways throughout the coming weeks. On Wednesday evening, Feb. 18th, we recognized and celebrated our seniors, Navin Miranda and Logan Peters, for their hard work and leadership throughout the basketball season. In the words of Coach Scriber, "Navin has worked hard all season to guide his teammates to success on and off the court. Logan has helped manage our equipment and been a good leader for the team. Thank you for all your hard work and Geaux Gryphons!" Laissez les bons temps rouler at Lutheran High! Who needs a parade when you have hallways like these? Our art students created their very own Mardi Gras float flowers, adding a giant pop of purple, green, and gold to our campus. Huge shoutout to Josh Wingerter Art Gallery for an incredible day of creativity! Yesterday, over 30 of our LHS art students—alongside Mrs. Lagarde and Pastor Nare—went behind the scenes to explore the gallery and dive into the artistic process. We also toured the "Art House," a 3D art experience. The highlight of the field trip was getting hands-on with spray paint and acrylics! Each student took home a canvas keepsake of their own creation. Thanks, Josh, for sharing your art space, experience, and talents with us. We also enjoyed the king cake! #creativegryphons Many thanks to the LHS junior and senior Student Council members who assembled more than 150 care bags for the homeless in preparation for the extreme cold this weekend. Supplies were provided by the non-profit Project NOLA and will be distributed in Orleans Parish by local law enforcement. Good job, Gryphons! We are thrilled to announce Heaven as the 2026 recipient of the Heather “Heddy” Nichols Memorial Scholarship – The Spirit of the Phoenix. This unique scholarship honors both creativity and tradition. To enter, students hand-painted their own platters—the Krewe's signature throw—and composed essays detailing their artistic process. A special thank you to Mystical Order of the Phoenix board member, Selina Boone, for presenting the award after Chapel, and to Thea Narkiewicz (Phoenix VI) for her inspiring video message. We are so proud of every student who participated and shared their talents with us! On Friday, December 5th, the Lutheran High choir, under the direction of Mr. Scriber, performed Christmas carols in the Hotel Monteleone lobby. The LHS Choir filled the lobby with sounds of the season, spreading Christmas cheer to hotel guests and attending family members. Excellent job, Gryphons! Many thanks to the Hotel Monteleone for hosting us and for the delicious catered lunch! The LHS cross country team concluded their 2025 season with a trip to the state cross country meet at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. It was a beautiful day for a race and everyone competed well. And a special "thank you" to everyone for your support throughout this season, especially on those early Saturday morning meets. Every race was fun, fast, and furious! Go Gryphons! |
