In celebration of Black History month, classes in all subject areas have been highlighting the many accomplishments of Black Americans in all disciplines. In Chapel this week, Pastor Althoff shared the story of Rosa Young, known as the mother of Black Lutheranism in Alabama. She was a teacher who was instrumental in founding Lutheran schools and congregations in Alabama. Junior Jaiden Vining read an excerpt from a speech by Barack Obama, and Sophomore Heaven Fazande read an excerpt from the poem "The Hill We Climb" by Amanda Gorman. Art classes created silhouettes of famous musicians, and the Computer Science class created presentations about leaders, artists, authors, athletes, scientists, innovators, and activists. Many thanks to Sgt. Reece, Marines; Specialist Daggupati and SFC Collado, ARMY National Guard, for visiting with our students today about career and college opportunities. #marines #armynationalguard #lhsgryphons Happy Two's Day, 02-22-22! In celebration of this date event, the LHS Service Club sponsored a special Two's Day celebration! Students who brought in $2 or two cans of food could dress down today. All cans and proceeds will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. In keeping with the Two's Day theme, students enjoyed Taco Tuesday soft tacos (for $2), and ended the day with a Partner Challenge three-legged race. Many thanks to the Service Club for sponsoring, and our faculty and students for participating! The LuHigh Photography Club got creative with "splash photography" today. #creativegryphons #lhsphotographyclub We were blessed with an engaging message from Pastor Sukstorf, St. John Lutheran Church, and a fabulous performance by our own LHS Choir! Many thanks to Pastor Sukstorf, Choir Director Scriber, and our choir students for a wonderful Tuesday Chapel experience! #chapelblessings #lhschoir |
