At Lutheran High, students acquire deeper knowledge through hands-on learning and active exploration. Students in Ms. Able's biology class created their own "ecosystem in a jar" to research what affects the growth of an ecosystem. Students first determined a question and hypothesis, and then will collect data over a 7 day period, analyze their data, and make a conclusion. Great job, Gryphons! ##gryphonscientists Student Council leaders, under the guidance of their advisor, Mrs. Lagarde, worked with their classmates and faculty class sponsors to plan Student Council Week, April 8th - 12th. The week included the following dress-up days: Eclipse Day, Character Day, BBQ Dads vs Soccer Moms, Tacky Tourist Day, and Twin Day. On the last day, students enjoyed a special lunch of baked potatoes and salad with various toppings. Thank you to our Executive Board and Class Presidents for serving! After lunch, students spent the afternoon outdoors at Johnny Bright enjoying relays, a donut dangling contest, the 3-legged race, a hula hoop relay contest, and some free play. Special thanks to Activities Director Ms. Loughmiller for helping Student Council members organize the outdoor fun. We closed out our week with frozen treats in the lunchroom. Congratulations to the senior teams for coming first in the relay and the hula hoop contest, the junior team for winning the donut dangling contest, and the freshmen team for winning the 3-legged race! Honorable mention to the faculty teams for enthusiasm and effort in the donut dangling and the hula hoop contest! #gryphonspirit The LHS alumni singing group, Yesterday’s Tomorrow, was the highlight of the 46th Annual Gryphon Gala, a fundraiser to benefit the students of Lutheran High, held at Faith Lutheran School on April 6, 2024. Members of Yesterday’s Tomorrow came from near and far to share their vocal talents and love of Lutheran High. The annual event featured a silent and live auction, dinner, and the opportunity to connect with past and present Gryphons, and the many friends of LHS. Many thanks to the auction committee members, sponsors and donors, community volunteers, attendees, and our student and faculty volunteers who made this event such a success! A very special thanks to our dedicated alumni and the members of Yesterday’s Tomorrow for sharing their talents and memories. Once a Gryphon, Always a Gryphon! Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Kendra Hansen to the Lutheran High family! Mrs. Hansen is our new administrative and financial coordinator. She is married and has a daughter who is a nurse. A NOLA girl at heart, Mrs. Hansen is a Saints season ticket holder and lover of local fests. Welcome, Mrs. Hansen! LHS Gryphons are eclipse ready! Students dressed down in black and/or yellow and participated in solar eclipse learning activities. In keeping with Jefferson Parish's decision to implement a half day dismissal, LHS gave each student a pair of eclipse glasses for viewing at home today under parents' supervision. Did you see the eclipse through our cloud cover? #solareclipse2024 |
