At Lutheran High, students engage in a variety of learning activities to help them apply their knowledge. In Mr. Scriber's Environmental Science class, students compared microscopic organisms found in local freshwater ecosystems. Students brought in samples from a variety of locations in the Greater New Orleans area. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas thanks to student elves who helped decorate Ms. Corb's office and the entrance to school. We are Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed! On Friday before the break, Student Council sponsored a grateful activity where students wrote on turkey feathers the things they are thankful for in their lives and sponsored some class-level Bingo contests with candy prizes. We are Blessed with a wonderful school and faith community! Congratulations to the newest members of the Lutheran High Chapter of the National Honor Society! On Thursday, November 16th, in a ceremony attended by students, faculty, and family, Chapter advisor Mrs. Lagarde inducted four students who met the criteria for scholarship, leadership, character, and service, into the National Honor Society. Current NHS members assisted with readings and presented certificates. National Honor Society members and their families enjoyed refreshments after the service. Congratulations, Gryphons! Gryphons in Action Serving Others! Several LHS students and Ms. Loughmiller were hard at work at Mount Olive Lutheran Church’s workday. The Gryphons began their day by cleaning the church and ended the day by unloading and spreading a truck bed full of sand bags! Way to go Gryphons! LHS Service Club members and their adviser, Ms. Loughmiller, enjoyed a warm day of decorating at City Park for Celebration in the Oaks. This year’s theme is Christmas Scrabble. Each LHS student made an ornament with a word that reminds them of Christmas! Be sure to check out our tree near the carousel to see if your word made the list! Many thanks to Reverend Eric Stinnett for sharing his love of the Gospel and his experiences as a missionary in Ethiopia with our faculty and students recently. Reverend Stinnett and Pastor Nare were in the Seminary together. |
