The Roaring 20s came alive at the Lutheran High Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 14th. Students donned their 1920s-inspired finery, walked the red carpet, and danced the night away. The student council sponsored event was held at the Kenner City Park Pavilion. Our Homecoming King, Yazan, and Homecoming Queen, Heaven, were crowned and greeted their court, maids, and dukes from grades 9-11. All hail our 2023 Homecoming Court! Many thanks to our faculty for chaperoning. The Gryphons, coached by Ms. Loughmiller, hosted St. Mary's Academy for their Homecoming Match. Both the JV and V teams were in action! The Gryphons continued to strive for a pass-set attack on each point but lost both matches to strong teams from SMA. After the game, Mrs. Lagarde, with help from the Student Council Executive Board, presented our 2023 Homecoming Court. Thank you to our parents, students, faculty, and fans for supporting Lutheran High! All Hail the members of the Homecoming Court! See the article on nola.com featuring our students here: Pumpkin Contest We were twice blessed at Chapel with music by the Lutheran High Choir and a special guest with ties to LHS! Mr. Joseph Taylor, who taught Religion and Art at Lutheran High for 13 years, shared the Chapel message with us. During his message, he encouraged faculty and students to respond, "Praise the Lord" whenever he saide the phrase, "Attitude Check." Mr. Taylor urged us to reset our mindset in adversity by finding joy in Christ's love for us and shared the verse, "I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me," Philippians 4:13. #PraisetheLord The Lady Gryphon volleyball players have adopted the mantra "Never Give Up" this season! They have hung tough in numerous close matches and several 5-setters! They are always looking to Pass, Set, Attack! They will take the court again for the homecoming match against St. Mary's Academy! Way to go Lady Gryphons and Coach Loughmiller! #WeAreLuHigh #LadyGryphons |
